tampasteampunk:

A new exhibit is opening up at the Plant Museum in Tampa, Fla. in March 2012. Titled “Japan and the Victorians,” it will explore how Japan influenced culture in Europe and America and vice versa. The exhibit will feature pieces from the hotel collection, provate collectors and several museums.
There’s a lot of talk about the need to represent multiculturalism in steampunk. This is a great opportunity to get an accurate historical viewpoint to create personas and outfits sensitive to and reflective of Japanese culture in the Victorian era.
